Strange as it may seem, this is where most entrepreneurs fail miserably.
It’s easy to spend so much time focused on getting new customers that you forget about previous buyers. And before you know it, they’ve forgotten about you too.
Yet retention tactics are usually the easiest, most effective and least expensive to implement. After all, you don’t need to tell past clients who you are or where you are, or explain the value of your offer.
That’s because they’ve already discovered it for themselves. And if you made them happy the first time they did business with you, there’s a good chance they might be comfortable coming back again – or referring someone else.
But that’s only going to happen if they actually DO remember who you are and what you do. So, before they forget, you need to put into place a system for staying in touch and top of mind.
Maybe you could email a newsletter. Write thank you cards. Hold special events. Call people personally. Whatever. (Grab a free copy of my Fast Marketing FOURmula for ideas on simple marketing systems!)
The takeaway is, you can’t just advertise and sit back, hoping people will decide to contact you or come on in. If you want to accelerate your business growth, you should include retention marketing tactics in your marketing plan.
It’s an easy way to put cash in the bank!
